Bailiff had a really great time this weekend with Sleepy Kitty Music and Oil Boom. St. Louis treated us very well and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Now it’s only a few days before lock down in the studio!

Hello.
Been too long, I know.
When we last left off, Bailiff had just played Do-Division Fest in June, uniting both hipsters and their arch rivals; the guys who wear white blazers with gothic writing on them. I’m not sure what their called, and I’m sorry if you’re reading this in your white blazer with gothic writing on it. You should probably take it off or else it’ll get wrinkled by the time you get to Club Victory later tonight.
Ok, back to business. I want to get you the updated story on this album we’re making. We are booked to start recording it next week. “Recording it?!,” you ask? Yes, it’s happening. Of course when we set out to make this album earlier this summer we figured it would take a couple weeks to sharpen the songs and then we’d plow through them at the studio and you’d be listening to it by now. But that was a different album in a different dimension. Originally we thought we would produce the album ourselves but we ended up meeting an engineer by the name of Jon Alvin (Wax on Radio, Dr. Manhattan) who we clicked with and signed on to have him produce it. Hey folks, we promise we’ve been hard at work on our first full length album. It’s our baby and we caught a glimpse of his little baby funky toes in this week’s ultrasound…

Bailiff hopes your Memorial Day weekend went properly. Ours involved a gang of musicians and free-wheelin’ revolutionaries grilling in the yard at the Bailiff Headquarters, a jam session that included ‘Rocky Mountain Way’ by Joe Walsh, a neighborhood dog staring out the window in severe anguish as we played frisbee in our parking lot, and the realization that I will spend most of this summer in the Michael Jordan jersey I bought when I was 11. A true hipster’s delight.
We gotta say thanks to everyone that came out to our show last weekend at Subterranean. We like to keep ourselves on our toes, so we decided to try out a bunch of new songs for the first time, rearrange the old ones, and throw a keyboardist into the mix. It was a unique experiment and we got a lot of out, even if some of our fans were probably standing there thinking, “What’s going on here?”
However, you will know exactly what’s going on during the Bailiff Show this weekend. In case you’ve been thinking, “Man, I wish Bailiff would play a destructive set of glory at a huge outdoor festival this summer,” we’ve got you covered. Bailiff will be performing at the infamous Do-Division Fest this Saturday at 5:20pm on the dot. This event is also free. ($5 donation, up to you, we get paid the same amount either way)
Bailiff’s appearance at Do-Division Fest this Saturday has also been honored by being listed at #3 in the: Metromix Top 20 Bands to See Outdoors in Chicago This Summer
We hope you can make it out, we guarantee you’ll have fun at this festival. Tons of great bands and lots of strangers to meet.

Cliff’s Notes: Bailiff plays at 5:20pm on the Leavitt Stage on Saturday June 5th. The festival is on Division Street in Wicker Park from Ashland to Leavitt St.
